Introduction

Witness Collection is a private collection of contemporary Vietnamese fine art, which illustrates both changes in life and the evolution of society in Vietnam over the past 80 years.  The collection includes works of art by Vietnam's most important and influential artists, whose paintings document the dramatic changes that have occurred in this intriguing country during its recent turbulent history.

Since the establishment of the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de l'Indochine (Fine Arts College of Indo-China) by the French colonial administrators in Hanoi in 1925, Vietnam has developed a flourishing fine arts community.  However, due to years of war and isolation, Vietnam's remarkable arts - combining Eastern and Western influences - remain little known outside of Southeast Asia.  Witness Collection is planning a series of exhibits and publications to help share with the world Vietnam's unique artistic talents.

Witness Collection's activities extend beyond building and exhibiting its art collection.  The organisation is also involved in other aspects of the arts in Vietnam: research and education, arts conservation, arts development and cultural exchanges.  Please contact us for more information.

The Witness Collection will introduce a comprehensive web-site to coincide with its first public exhibition
